During the hard times of the Covid-19 restrictions I've had to cancel my Feldenkrais movement classes and all face to face teaching in my home. Teaching people how to move better has been a big part of my life in the last 8 years and has provided me with the steady income that music couldn't.
So in March 2020 I had a big chunk of time on my hands! I used it to learn the basics of sound engineering which, in the first 3-4 weeks, took hours and hours of watching YouTube tutorials, sweating over which cable goes where and wondering 'where did that go?' and 'what the f-ck is happening now?' and 'why can't I hear anything' with ProTools, the music software I'm using.
And because I'd already invested so much in recording equipment and software, I decided to build my own studio desk - on wheels! That might even have been the most fun I had in the whole process (haha!)
I've now acquired the possibility to record and mix at home and as well as to edit videos and broadcast them as streams. I wanted to be independent enough to test different sounds, arrangements, singing techniques and backing vocal ideas BEFORE going into an expensive studio. I wanted to mull over it, change it, ponder, test it, listen and change it again instead of being haunted by the clock when paying for professional studio time.
Our new single 'Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler' was part of my learning process. With a little help from five times Grammy winner Klaus Genuit in Hansahaus Studios I could finish what I started a couple of months ago. On the 18th of October the song will be available on all major download and streaming services. BUT, you can download it on this website already today and be among the first to know the song. Have fun, dance and enjoy!
